Mumbai: On the 13th of April 2018 from 9:30 am to 11:30 am, around 120 children and 45 staff of the Mentally Deficient Children’s Home, Mankhurd decided to make their voice heard in regards to the plastic ban policy. They whole heartedly participated in a ‘walk for a difference’ from the Mentally Deficient Children’s Home till the Mankhurd railway station and back to the home, to educate everyone in their vicinity to understand the harms of using plastic.
The Mentally Deficient Children’s Home, Mankhurd is one of the 9 institutions of the Children’s Aid Society, Mumbai. It caters to the need of children who are differently abled as per the Persons with Disability Act, 1995 and the Juvenile Justice (care and protection) Act, 2015. In light of the plastic ban move in Mumbai, the children proudly displayed several colourful cloth bags as well as homemade paper bags of excellent quality to support alternatives to plastic and usher the plastic ban. They shouted slogans and carried placards for all to see and hear. This event was so successful that it attracted the attention of some local news channels too. The children were very excited to get their voice heard and to say no to plastic.
SUPPORT the ban of plastic!! It is good for you and the environment!
